Frisco Bats Summer Sandlot Baseball
Play Baseball the Way It Was Meant to Be Played
Remember when baseball was just a group of kids showing up at the field, picking teams, and playing until the sun went down? That’s the spirit of Sandlot Baseball. This summer, the Frisco Bats are hosting a series of Sandlot Games open to players from any team — designed to give kids more opportunities to play, compete, make friends, and enjoy the game without the pressure of tournaments, rankings, or standings.
What Is a Sandlot Game?
An informal baseball game where the focus is on playing, learning, and having fun. Unlike tournament baseball there are no rings, no trophies, no rankings, no standings, no travel-ball politics. Just baseball. Players from different teams come together, form two teams, and play.
How It Works
- 1Players arrive and check in.
- 2Teams are formed from whoever is present that day.
- 3Captains may be selected by the players.
- 4Players organize positions and batting orders.
- 5The kids play baseball.
Adults are present to ensure safety, keep things moving, and help with field operations — but the goal is for the players to take ownership of the game: communicating, making decisions, solving problems, and learning to play together.
Who Can Participate?
Any youth baseball player is welcome, regardless of team affiliation — recreational, select, travel, AA, AAA, or Major level. Players should bring: glove, bat, helmet, water bottle, and a positive attitude.
Why Sandlot Baseball?
It gives kids the chance to get extra game reps, try new positions, develop leadership, build baseball IQ, meet players from other teams, and have fun — a reminder that baseball is supposed to be fun.
